Bedtime routine
I thought this week I’d share something a bit different with you, I’m going to share our bedtime routine with you all, and how sleeping through the night is successful for us, Noe obviously this might not work for everybody, but if it helps just one of you, that’s brilliant!
For us, it starts with schedule, routine and structure! The boys always know what’s coming next. For example when we get home from school I’ll say “we’re going to go walk the dog, when we come back, Mummy will make dinner, we will eat dinner then will go have a bath.” This really gives them stability to know what’s happening now and next so nothing is a surprise or a rush to know what is coming up!
Now, let’s break down for bedtime:
We allow TV time in the evening. Usually CBeebies watching in the night garden before bed.
As soon as In the Night Garden has finished, the boys know that they head upstairs to have a wash and wee before brushing their teeth.
We are all head into Little’s bedroom and read a story together. We find Wonderbly books are perfect for this as each story is so personal to the child. The illustrations are always superb. The boys just really love the range of books they offer!
Then we tuck Little into bed, he has his cuddles kisses, fist, bumps, and high-fives before I turn on his white noise machine on night light. We always say I love you have a good night sleep and close the door.
Then we head off into Titch’s room, I change his nappy, put his white noise machine on, took him into his cot bed, and he gets kisses or say I love you and have a good night sleep and then close the door.
This routine works for us it’s always been the same since they were babies. I think that’s why it works. It’s just something we’ve always done. It also really hope that my boys love to sleep and their bed.
The children are always in their pyjamas ready for bed after they’ve eaten their dinner, we like to have a TV time snugly in our pyjamas, they always tend to ask which shop in Mummy’s chair in the evening watching nighttime CBeebies!
