Nature play

What is nature play? What does play with the nature mean to you?

Do you love to be outside? Do you feel free and connected when you're outside listening to nature not a care in the world.

How do you think children connect with nature?

Lots of questions to bombard you with at the beginning of this weeks blog. They all play a significant part of this weeks topic, which is nature, play within nature.

it has been proven that children need to be outside they need to connect with the Earth, they need to be free, wild and run barefoot on the grass. Allowing children to play in nature allows them to connect with their emotions it allows them to develop physically and intellectually it has so many benefits and so much potential.

Nature play for us means freedom it means submerging yourself into the unknown allowing yourself to just feel and be you. We use a lot of nature within our play, it's in our home we love bringing the outside inside and we love spending as much time as possible outside. You may actually see that we are participating in the 1000 hours outside initiative.

The most important part of nature play for children is that it gives them compassion for things around them they, stop and appreciate the small things. Let's take a ladybird would you even notice ladybird on a leaf? A child does and a child wants to investigate that lady but they want to count the spot on that ladybird they want to feel that ladybird in their hands and watch it fly away with their wishes.

Take a look at the wanderlust program and Hygee in the early years, there are so many benefits that nature can give children and guess what it's free it cost nothing but your time.

We challenge you to get outside and look what you've got around you. What trees have you got nearby, can you name them? Do they have seeds you can collect for play?

I could waffle on for hours, but what I will end with is to check back next week! We will be sharing some budget friendly autumnal play ideas for you to try, to explore nature!
