Adventurer blog

last week I briefly mentioned that we attend weekly paid classes, I thought I’d concentrate on this for this weeks blog post and share those with you.

first up is waterbabies, this is the little adventurer‘s weekly swimming lessons, they are fantastic! They not only teach babies from 0-5 (basically until school age) how to swim, they educate and reinforce water safety and inspire water confidence in yourself and the child.

Each lesson lasts 30 minutes, the perfect amount of time for the little adventurer to learn and improve on his skills before getting too tired. There is plenty of equipment used in each session, the big mat, mirrors, magic hoop, floats, flippers, woggles, ducks and fishes. Each move learnt is accompanied with nursery rhymes to help you remember and the child associates that song to the specific move.

We absolutely adore the swimming instructors too, they’re all highly trained, very friendly and extremely patient. We went through several months of what waterbabies call the water wobbles (the child becomes hesitant and dislikes being in the water) our instructor helped us through, we weren't pressured to do anything that caused the little adventurer any distress and we are now happy splish splashers.

There are 17 chapters we are about 1/3 of the way through, each chapter consists of 10 lessons, you receive a free underwater shoot (you pay for photos) you also receive a swimmer log book to track things learnt with 'Sticker Swims' finally after each chapter you receive a swimming badge too.

They are super fun lessons and we decided before the little adventurer was born that we would give him the gift of learning to swim, he's been swimming since he was about 3 months old. We also participated in the Tommy's splashathon raising funds for Tommy's charity, the little adventurer did extremely well and earnt a special sticker, swim badge, certificate and story book.

Waterbabies is the best life skill we can give the little adventurer.

The other session is MusicBugs, this is the little adventurer's weekly instalment of music sensory play, singing and dancing. The classes are various age groups; baby bugs 0-crawling, mini bugs 6-24 months, jumping bugs 1.5-4 and family bugs which is mixed ages.

Each sessions is themed and includes props, instruments and music. For example our favourite session is 'bake off' the music, songs and nursery rhymes are all to do with food (e.g. 5 current buns) the children are given props to play with our favourite is the little junior chef outfit you can dress up in.

The little adventurer loves dancing and copying the movements, he loves playing with the vast array of instruments, his favourite is probably the drum and shakers. He enjoys participating in the group tidy up, popping bubbles and adores the parachute activities.

Musicbugs prides itself in nursery rhyme week and playing an important part in phonics and word association for the little ones. Each session is about 45-60 minutes which is great for the little adventurer to burn off some energy running around with his little friends. The session leaders are really friendly and very enthusiastic they really get the children fully immersed and engaged in all activities.

Each week the little adventurer receives a little sticker to let everyone know he's had lots of fun at music bugs, also, during nursery rhyme week you are given a special sticker and certificate for participating. On his first birthday everyone sang to him and his session leader gave him a beautiful purple balloon with a dinosaur (dino crazy boy) birthday card.

MusicBugs are such a welcoming company and love everything they do.
