The Little Adventurer loves going for walks and helping to take the dog out for her walks. Every time we go out he brings with him his little nature bag to collect nature treasures in. We are very lucky where we are as we have lots of greenery and nice scenic walks. Recently our area or more specifically our neighborhood has become a little less scenic and more trash, litter is everywhere and its disgusting to be honest, face masks and surgical gloves that people use for their own safety and protection just left on the floor and the usual fast food packaging and convenient food rubbish.
The Little Adventurer has even begun to pick up litter thinking they're treasures for him to collect along with his pretty flowers, sticks and other natural items. He got very upset when The Adventurer in Training told him "no, dirty" or to "put it down" The little Adventurer would ask "bin bin? " or "where bin bin?" causing more upset that he couldn't put away the great plastic bottle or the shiny crisp packet. The Adventurer in Training though that enough was enough, so, today with the help of Daddy Adventurer we went on 'not a nature trail'! We took some black bags, garden gloves, hand sanitizer and a dustpan and brush and collected all of the litter from around our neighborhood.

It took us over an hour and two large black bags full to clear an 15 minute dog walk route from all the litter and debris. We felt great collecting the litter and making the neighborhood look nice and clean again. We even had some lovely people thank us and tell The Little Adventurer what a great job he was doing helping to clear the litter.

This is a valuable lesson for The Little Adventurer, about keeping the environment clean and tidy, making sure rubbish is put in the bin and not left idly for someone else to collect, lets face it, there wont always be someone else. We try to teach The Little Adventurer that its your responsibility to make a change and a difference, don't leave things for someone else. That's why we all spent our Sunday morning collecting rubbish, to show people we care about our neighborhood and we are wiling to pick up others rubbish in the hope that everyone else will follow suit. Also it makes a safer place for The Little Adventurer to explore and continue to collect his nature treasures happily.
Lets work together to save tomorrow.
