Mud kitchen!

We’ve recently stumbled upon the idea of having a mud kitchen, you know, the outdoors play table with kitchen items and your kid can get extra messy and have lots of fun!

We don’t actually have a proper mud kitchen just yet, although daddy adventurer is going to build one! However we wanted to show how easy it is to set up a portable, compact and easy to use mud kitchen!

We have created and played in three different mud kitchen set ups this week.

1. Flower soup kitchen - This one we used our sand and water table, some pans and utensils from the toy kitchen, blue dyed water and some daffodils left over from Mother’s Day! The little adventurer scooped the water and flowers into each pot to make flower soup, and yes, yes the little adventurer drank it too.

2. Slime kitchen - We created ooblec, popped some flowers and pinecones into and around the slime bowl. Used the toy kitchen pans and utensils and popped everything on top of an old chest lid. the adventurer in training was super pleased we did this one outside as it was extremely messy but do much fun!

3. Jelly kitchen - For this we made up jelly as per the pack, poured into a tray and popped into the fridge to set, we also froze some of the mixture in an ice cube tray. We set it up on a table top, used some utensils from the toy kitchen and the little adventurer was away playing chef of wibble wobble jelly!

It‘s simple to set up your own mud kitchen, doesn’t matter on space or what you have. I hope these three examples of our mud kitchen play inspire you to create your own spectacular mud kitchens! Please do share your own ideas we’d love to hear and see them!
